And behold, he preached the word unto your fathers, and a m ighty change was also wrought in their hearts, and they humbled themselves and put their trust in the true and living God. And behold they were faithful until the end; therefore they were saved.

True and living god vs. the God of my compulsions. True meaning never leading me down paths of falsehoods, I find that my compulsions cause me to ration lies. He will not have that occur because he is true in his guidance. Living is opposite destruction, also it is dependable, He will not leave me even like my mortal father will someday, he is living and will remain consistent for me. I wonder what it would look like to work as hard on my relationship with him as I did on the compulsions that still rear their ugly heads today.

"Now, my brothers and sisters, let not Jesus’ redemption for us stop at the immortalizing dimension of the Atonement, “the loosing of the bands of death”. Let us grasp the proffered gift of eternal life! We will end up either choosing Christ’s manner of living or His manner of suffering! It is either “suffer even as I”, or overcome “even as [He] … overcame”. His beckoning command is to become “even as I am”. The spiritually settled accept that invitation, and “through the atonement of Christ,” they become and overcome! "
