So, I've been clean from a pornography addiction for almost 9 years. I am attending BYU and am an RM. I worthily hold a temple recommend and try to go every week. My life is so enjoyable and I love feeling the Spirit.

That being said, I've had a very startling new development with wet dreams. As a normal male, I have them. Though it's not that fact which is worrying me. As of recently, I wake up mid dream. I wake up masturbating and continue until orgasm. I would never ever do that when my mind is fully awake and at full capacity. In fact, Satan hasn't tempted me with porn or anything of that matter recently when I'm awake. I wake up with very disturbing sexual fantasies about various women in my life. I vaguely remember certain aspects of the experience (the sexual feelings and the orgasm) but cannot control my mind. Afterwards, it is very difficult to control my thoughts because i'm not even really awake.

I am aware that I am not fully cognizant when this happens. It's this weird stage in between sleep and wakefulness. What is especially disturbing is that I remember all of it. I don't feel guilty about it during the day (I don't feel responsible for it), yet I feel absolutely horrible when I wake up in the morning and right after it happens.

So, what I'm looking for is some support. Is this just a phase? Will it go away? What is causing it? (I've cut out any edgy media from my life in an effort to stop having these waking dreams) Any advice?

"You need to remember that even though you are a byu student and an RM, you're also still a sexual human being. The human body calibrates itself naturally when it comes to sexual tension. Your wet dreams might be just that. Your dreams could also be in response to added stress of the semester coming to a close.

Masturbating in that semi-awake stage is common. For me, sex dreams wake me up just before orgasm, but past the point of no return. As soon as I fully wake up, the orgasm starts happening without any help from me. From my experience, this is just a phase that will go away, especially if you start exercising more during the day.

If I were you, I would not feel guilty over what has happened. God gave us physical bodies that run according to defined laws. Semi-conscious masturbation is an example of your body doing its thing. Just stop worrying about this and move on."

"Many times during my life I have had disturbing dreams. ( mainly nightmares)I have also known that unclean spirits can influence us while we are in that state of sleep. When this happens I also cast out unclean spirits and I have for several years now.

I especially do this when I go away to stay at hotels or other peoples homes."

"Lucifer will do all in his power to keep you captive. You are familiar with his strategy. He whispers: “No one will ever know.” “Just one more time.” “You can’t change; you have tried before and failed.” “It’s too late; you’ve gone too far.” Don’t let him discourage you. When you take the path that climbs, that harder path of the Savior, there are rewards along the way. When you do something right, when you resist temptation, when you meet a goal, you will feel very good about it. It is a very different kind of feeling than you have when you violate commandments—an altogether different feeling. It brings a measure of peace and comfort and provides encouragement to press on. "
