i am 17 years old and i recenty just had my third back surgery. i resorted to smoking weed to take my pain away. after i reaized what being high felt like i wanted to be high all the time. i wait for my next high everyday. now getting high effects me emotionally. i love the feeling of being high and now im addicted and my parents dont even know yet. i want to get help but i just havent found the desire yet. i feel like my parents have given up on me and just dont care anymore. i dont know what to do.

"Please never believe that your parents don't care because I know they do. I have a son who loves the feeling pot gives him. I know he often feels like we don't love him and that we don't care, but we do care very much and love him very much. The truth is that we are tired and have been to the point of not knowing what to do many times. As a parent, you try anything with the thinking that something you try will help them stop. And when they don't stop, often we go numb and feel lost in not knowing what to do. Please don't believe the lies you are being told...

We are finally learning to understand how to love him, but let him learn. We release this to God every day and he still not better. He has really hurt his young life, and we cannot stop him. But we know that God is with him and watching over him. And we also know that he will not change until he really wants something better.

You will only change when you have the desire? I believe that you are at least beginning to have the desire and that is why you are reaching out.

No matter what, even if you are high, pray to God. Never stop praying. He will meet you where you are if you are sincere. You are always worthy to pray and prayer will always keep you connected. Ask him to lead you, and I promise he will.

I am sorry to hear of your extreme pain. Back surgery once is very hard, but three times? Wow! I pray that you will heal from your pain and that the Lord will heal you from your desire to smoke weed. "

"I have come to know that thoughts, like water, will stay on course if we make a place for them to go. Otherwise, our thoughts follow the course of least resistance, always seeking the lower levels. Probably the greatest challenge and the most difficult thing you will face in mortal life is to learn to control your thoughts. In the Bible it says, as a man ‘thinketh in his heart, so is he’ (Prov. 23:7). One who can control his thoughts has conquered himself. As you learn to control your thoughts, you can overcome habits, even degrading personal habits. You can gain courage, conquer fear, and have a happy life. "
