An important step?
By will

For many years I've pleaded with God to help me overcome my obsessive compulsive behaviors. I'm just now realizing that I was asking Him to do it on my terms. For possibly the first time in my life, I'm trying to put it in His hands and always include in my prayers, "Thy will be done". I can see there is still so much to learn and a long ways to go to totally surrender my life to the Lord. But hopefully, this is an important step.

It's a HUGE Step
"Amen, and have another serving of recovery. For me this has been the biggest step, and I have to keep revisiting it, because I keep taking control back. You are on the right track.

God speed and good recovery,
John"

"I have come to know that thoughts, like water, will stay on course if we make a place for them to go. Otherwise, our thoughts follow the course of least resistance, always seeking the lower levels. Probably the greatest challenge and the most difficult thing you will face in mortal life is to learn to control your thoughts. In the Bible it says, as a man ‘thinketh in his heart, so is he’ (Prov. 23:7). One who can control his thoughts has conquered himself. As you learn to control your thoughts, you can overcome habits, even degrading personal habits. You can gain courage, conquer fear, and have a happy life. "
