Do you ever ask yourself why does my family have to be dealing with all of this? Why would the lord allow Porn to be so prevelant in the world?

Today i am asking Why is it not okay for me to stand up for my family. I had a friend email me a the infamous pics of Britney spears with out underwear.. she did not give me any warning that there would be nude pics in it..and My husband opened it and saw them...I was SOO mad. and i felt so bad for my husband. When i emailed her back and told not send anything like that again to our home, she got mad and told me that i was a prude for makeing such a big deal about one little picture. I told her that i just didnt want to have it in my home and as a temple recomend holding memeber of the church i was shocked to see that it came from her.

anyway long story short, I wish sometimes that things wernt so easy to just come apon. I feel bad that my husband had to see that. I kinda feel like i let him down. I was the one that was suppose to control what is seen on the computer.

I agree!!!
"I believe the frustation your feeling is easy to place upon the Lord. However throughout the history of the church, both ancient and present, the Lord has allowed the people to make their own decisions regardless if they coincide with His. For instance in the book of Judges the children of Israel desired that Gideon be their ruler, after the Lord had already appointed judges to rule. Gideon refused to be their leader and prompted the children of Israel to obey the Lord. Nevertheless in the next chapter Gideons son is made ruler over the children of Israel, which goes to show that we as humans are subjects to our own decisions, he will give us direction to choose for oursleves but he will never force a path upon us.

Much like the children of Israel we as a society have accepted pornography as a "norm" . In fact I know of some addiction specialists (md's!) they view that one can view pornography on occasion and not be addicted to it! It is sad to say that some of this worlds most learned people have had their belief system distorted. I agree with you Jen that it would be alot easier if pornography in all of its forms wasnt so easily obtainable. However, society has brought themselves to this point by their own free will and choice and it is up to us to make a change.

With this is mind I would like to suggest some advice I once heard from a CES instructor. When you have enemies in this life, pray for them and pray for them again until your conflict is resolved. I believe that the people that solicit what appears to be non pornogrpahic material in the media our in a way our enemies. I understand that they no not what they do however we as members of the church understand that it is an evil thing and bitter. Thus I feel it is our responsibility to let our voices be heard in both prayer and, for the lack of a better word, politics. And believe we as members of the church can achieve much. We must remeber some of the promises made by the prohpet Josheph Smith when he said, now this is paraphrasing I apologize, there will come a time in the last days when the church will be viewed as both a spiritual and polictical power by the world. Let us not forget this promise made to us, I feel through sincere prayer and fasting many good things can come from this."

"Don’t live your life in despair, feeling sorry for yourself because of the mistakes you have made. Let the sunshine in by doing the right things—now. It may be difficult to begin, but pick up the scriptures and immerse yourself in them. Look for favorite passages. Lean on the Master’s teachings, on His servants’ testimonies. Refresh your parched soul with the word of God. The scriptures will give you comfort and the strength to overcome. "
