"I am sorry that your situation feels hopeless. But at least you are being honest with yourself. That is the first step to recovery."

Sounds like you are getting near wit's end. I know that you have been struggling for many years with this problem, and to make matters worse, you have your kids without a mom around. You also sound like many of us, when things get so bad you feel like you have completely lost control of your life, and your ability to choose. You have tried so many different "solutions", but none of them has been effective in your life. You, like me and others, have tried anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds, as well as other treatments. You would like to tell your story.

We are listening. Just start typing. It seems like you know the solution is in you, but you just haven't found it yet. I am also trying to know myself. Since God is in both of us, and will never leave, I am hoping that is the solution. I am hoping he will grant us both enough patience with our own self to allow Him to do His miracles in us. If I was with you now, we would pray. What the heck, let's pray on the blog.

Heavenly Father,

We come to Thee today in desperation. Thou hast always been there for us. We have always believed that there was a solution somewhere out there to our addiction. Please bless us with Thy spirit right now, this very moment. We know much of the battle is our own choice to do this, but we feel so completely powerless. Thou hast the power to completely heal us, we know this. Increase our faith in Thee and in this fact, the fact that Thy love for us is infinite. Help us to give our entire lives, and our very will, that is our freedom of choice to Thee. Then we know things will get better. Just let us have a little hope. Help us to make it just today. I think I can promise that I can do this for one day. Then I'll repeat a similar prayer tomorrow. Matt has tried prayer in the past. He has faith. He knows Thou art there. Please let our faith grow, so that we can have more power from Thee. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

"surrendering everything to Jesus Christ is the only thing that has ever worked... and by everything for me I had to literally say that prayer

"God if you want me to be alone for the rest of my life... I'm willing. I just want you to be in the center of my life. Heavenly Father, I realize I may be mocked and shamed by members of my own church... but I'm willing to be a witness for you of Recovery. I'm willing to try to do what you tell me each morning... I'm willing to listen... I'm willing to try"

Getting into honest relationships with other MEN has been huge for me.

you can meet men like this everywhere... at recovery groups, at work, family... Pray to Go that he will open the windows of heaven and grant you this blessing.. that you might find a good friend to talk to.

SHAME & LONELINESS feed this... as much as TEMPTATION does...

getting into relationship with other men.. kills the loneliness and talking about it (whatever it is) kills the SHAME.

I'm praying for you"

Driving to Walmart to get Music
"I think there is a "moment" between a semblance of control (no matter how brief) to when we realize that we are approaching a point of no return. We need to recognize that moment as our last vestige of taking back control.

It is in that moment that we must act to counteract the influences of Satan. I think no matter what we do in that moment, the Lord will support us. For you it is driving to Walmart to get some good music, to another it maybe turning off the computer, turning on a General Conference talk, opening the scriptures, or dropping to our knees in prayer. I find this is the only way I can get through the day."

"Now brethren, the time has come for any one of us who is so involved to pull himself out of the mire, to stand above this evil thing, to “look to God and live” (Alma 37:47). We do not have to view salacious magazines. We do not have to read books laden with smut. We do not have to watch television that is beneath wholesome standards. We do not have to rent movies that depict that which is filthy. We do not have to sit at the computer and play with ographic material found on the Internet."
