Struggling a Little Bit

I'm having a little bit of a hard time. Yesterday my addiction counselor and I were discussing my faulty core beliefs and the things from my past that contributed to them. We talked about feeling like I'm not good enough and that people wouldn't like the real me. Thinking about the things it my childhood that led to those beliefs brought up a lot of emotion. Then today when I met with my other counselor we were talking about what to think about and do if I don't get the job I'm interviewing for tomorrow, and then we started talking about Valentine's day. That brings up a ton of emotions. I hate being single. I want so badly to get married again. There's a ward dance for adults tomorrow, but I don't want to go because it will just be a huge reminder of how single I am. There's a singles dance, but I know I can't, that I'm not ready. This sucks, and it is kicking up my urges.

Don't give in

"I'm trying not to panic, but I'm scared I'm going to slip. I'm avoiding going to bed. Today's day 13, and I don't want to go back to day 1. I want to do the right thing, but the urges are high."

think long term
"Try and think about where you want to be in 5 years. Focus on what kind of life would be perfect...this will help you remember that you've got to do things right today, to be where you want in five years, married w/ your children...think how wonderful it will be to have put these struggles behind you! You can do it!"

Thank God
"and thanks all of you. WooHoo!!!!! I made it through last night (with lots of help from God). It actually didn't end up being as bad as I thought. I fell asleep in the recliner and then I got to sleep pretty easily when I finally went to bed. I followed my plan and prayed before I got ready for bed. There was lots of pleading for help to get through this and get to sleep, and it worked. I stayed further away from the edge than I thought I'd be able to. I'm relieved and excited this morning. Today is Day 14! I made it through a tough time! I may actually be quit for good this time. Way too early to be cocky, just excited at the possibility. Thanks again everyone.

"I have come to know that thoughts, like water, will stay on course if we make a place for them to go. Otherwise, our thoughts follow the course of least resistance, always seeking the lower levels. Probably the greatest challenge and the most difficult thing you will face in mortal life is to learn to control your thoughts. In the Bible it says, as a man ‘thinketh in his heart, so is he’ (Prov. 23:7). One who can control his thoughts has conquered himself. As you learn to control your thoughts, you can overcome habits, even degrading personal habits. You can gain courage, conquer fear, and have a happy life. "
